Handing a stranger the keys to a car worth more than most people’s deposit only works if both sides trust the platform in the middle. Here is what that means in practice.
Provider verification
Every provider is reviewed by a person before they can list anything. We check business registration or proof of ownership, identity, and a commercial insurance policy that permits rental to third parties. A personal auto policy does not qualify and an application relying on one is declined.
Listing review
Approving a provider is not approving everything they own. Each vehicle is reviewed on its own: pricing, mileage allowance, deposit, minimum age and rental requirements. Editing a live listing sends it back for review, so customers never see terms that were never approved.
Booking integrity
Reservations and provider calendar blocks share one calendar, and overlapping reservations are rejected by the database itself rather than by application code. Two customers cannot hold the same vehicle for the same window, even if they submit at the same instant.
Price transparency
The rate, included mileage, cost per additional mile, security deposit and minimum age are on the listing page before you commit. If a provider's terms change, the listing goes back through review.
On-platform communication
Messages run through MAYN, and contact details are withheld until a booking is confirmed. That is partly to keep bookings on the platform and partly so there is a record if a rental goes wrong.
Reviews that mean something
Only a customer with a completed booking can review a provider, once. Ratings that anyone can write are worth nothing, so we do not allow them.
What we do not yet do
Being straight about the gaps is part of being trustworthy. Payment processing, deposit holds, automated payouts, refunds and formal dispute resolution are not live in this version of the platform. Identity verification is manual. Insurance is provided by each individual provider, not by MAYN, and we do not currently offer supplementary protection on top of it.
These are the next things to build, and each needs professional legal, insurance and financial review before it goes live rather than after.
